Prof. Michael Vorenberg of Brown University will speak on his new and much-anticipated book, Lincoln’s Peace: The Struggle to End the American Civil War, available for purchase March 18, in time for our meeting (he will happily sign copies). He is also the author of, among other works, Final Freedom: The Civil War, the Abolition of Slavery, and the Thirteenth Amendment, which was a finalist for the 2002 Gilder Lehrman Lincoln Prize and used prominently in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.
